What the site is
A free, informational guide to education decisions in Iowa. It’s a personal project, not a nonprofit or membership organization. It isn’t a government website and isn’t affiliated with the Iowa Legislature, any state agency, any school district, or any candidate or political party. Nothing here is legal advice.
Public records, as filed
Bills, votes, rules, meetings and contact details come from public sources and are shown as those sources publish them. We work to keep them accurate and current, but sources can be wrong or out of date, and so can we. The official record is the source’s own. The site is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, and we aren’t liable for decisions made based on it. If you spot an error, please report it.
Our read
Where we say what a measure means for public schools, it’s labeled “Our read.” Those ratings and report cards are our opinion, explained with reasons you can check. See How it works for how we rate bills and representatives.
Using the content
Public records are free to use. Some data comes from other projects under their own licenses, listed on Sources and methods; follow those terms when you reuse it. Please credit Iowa Education Legislative Watch when you quote our analysis.
Using the site fairly
Don’t try to disrupt the site, overload it with automated requests, or get around its limits. When you send us a message, don’t include anything unlawful, abusive, or someone else’s private information. We may ignore or delete messages that break these rules.
Links to other sites
We link to official sources and other websites. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content.

Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why.
